Lomo Berlin

I also took my Lomo camera to Berlin and it was quite a lovely to carry a camera around that was so light! I took my Lomo Diana F+ with an old 120 mm film I thrifted. I like how these pictures capture Berlin in a completely different way.
The first photo is my favorite, it’s the Hay store window display and through the glass you also see the building across the street.

From Berlin with Coolness

Warning! To read this post, one must be able to imagine the vibrant neon colours  yourself! (neon is such a bitch to photograph*)

Of course Berlin meant lots of walking around and also a wee bit of shopping! I finally got the beautiful Hay archive folder, which is so beautiful when you fold it open that I seriously doubt whether I’ll actually ever use it for storage.

I also found the sweetest Little Elephant cup for Mini and some chocolates with awesome packaging. And of course there were also magazines and art books that simply had to be bought over at Do You Read Me?!  Such a great trip and great finds too!

* quoting Philomeen and Marlous here of course!

Berlin, I Love You

My Berlin trip with Anki, Cris, Iris, Marlous and Philomeen was like a little present that I didn’t expected to get (christmas is still a long way down the road). We had such a lovely time walking around Berlin and just taking it all in. The city has so many faces from stately to graffiti and back again,  just beautiful!

Berlin was like the best host we could have asked for, we had  great food, good cocktails, we laughed our asses off and ended up with some great/funny/good/hilarious memories.
And some cool stuff too, but that’s for later!

Next Stop: Berlin

Tomorrow I’m leaving for a couple of days Berlin with some pretty awesome blogfriends. I’m super excited to go! Mostly because Berlin is definitely one of my favorite cities I’ve visited so far.
The photo above is from my last trip to Berlin, when I visited the beautiful museum of modern art the Hamburger Bahnhof which is literally in the old railway station. And last time I actually saw Yoko Ono there!
I guess that after this weekend there are going to be quite a lot of Berlin Blogposts so check out: Anki, CristianIrisMarlous and Philomeen for more Berlin goodness. Especially check out this hilarious post of Philomeen, she turned our little group into lego figures and even matched the lego’s hair colours to ours!

Berlin: Michelberger Hotel

Light-years ago we went on a trip to Berlin. One thing I was particularly looking forward to was the hotel. We stayed at the Michelberger Hotel in East Berlin and just by looking at the site I wandered if I was even cool enough to stay there. It turned out to be an amazing place. What was the most amazing you ask? The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel! Whether it was de cool key card for our room or the custom designed wallpaper. Everything had such great detail and a lot of humour was incorporated everywhere. The thing that really impressed us the most was de 24/7 TV channel that aired nothing but The Big Lebowski. I just couldn’t believe that when I woke up, “The Dude” would still be there!
Here are some pictures of our room and cool Michelberger-stuff. (Some of the pictures are rather dark and blurry, we arrived in the evening and I took pictures straight away. Come morning, we had already messed the place up so much that pictures where out of the question!)

Waking Up From a Blog Coma

I haven’t been blogging much at all. I really have been just way too lazy busy! It started innocently enough because it was just too warm and lovely outside. Then I got too busy and preoccupied with my thesis and I ended up being just too sick to do anything much anymore.
Of course after that I immediately was too busy again with all the stuff I didn’t do when I was sick. So it was a vicious circle really and completely not my fault! 😉

I guess I also kind of really needed a blog break in my head. Sometimes the online life is a little overwhelming and I spend way too much time caring about online-stuff instead of just being.
When I started to ‘wake up’ last week, I finally felt like taking some pictures around the house and actually blogging about them!
Here’s a few small changes around our living room.

Notice the awesome poster above our sofa? It’s a screenprint of the Fernsehturm on Alexanderplatz we brought back from Berlin. I love the bright colours and I think it goes really well with the wall colour. Berlin is just such a great city! I’ve been pondering whether or not I should finish my half written post on Berlin, or has that just been too long ago?

Berlin Treasures

Back from a wonderful couple days Berlin. And I had a wonderful time and birthday! (more on that later) Of course I brought back a few treasures and of course some B-day gifts.

The most obvious piece in this ‘collage’ is of course the Camden Satchel, can you believe it was just waiting for me in a store in Berlin that I just happened to walk past? The boyfriend called it a sign and gave it to me for my birthday (and this was after he gave me the awesome keecie wallet!) The vans with daisies were more of a necessity, I brought the wrong shoes, so that was luck in a bad luck situation 😉 The Selby book was on sale in the Hamburger Bahnhof museum shop (where I actually saw Yoko Ono!) And the vase we bought in the Kaufbar were literally everything was for sale, such a cool concept. And if you look really close you can see the pretty bracelet Iris made me, how sweet!

Tschüss!

I’m heading to Berlin for a couple of days! Can’t wait to spend some time in this amazing city and celebrate my big B-day every so slightly… 😉 See you soon!

Berlin Birthday

In about 10 days it’s my birthday. And just like last year I’m fleeing the scene. I don’t feel like celebrating this birthday at all! I’ll be packing my bags, bidding you all adieu and spend a few days in lovely Berlin. My niece Maxime gave me a tip for a great hotel and we’ve already booked a room there. The Michelberger Hotel, honestly, this hotel might just be a little too hip for me 😉It’s this incredibly cool hotel run by a bunch of creative people and lead by a guy named Tom. Tom’s plan was to live in a building with some of his friends, but he and his friends ended up creating a place where they not only live, but actually run a hotel as well. Together they all put in a lot of hard work and the place looks great. At least the pictures do 😉 I’m really excited to spend a few days in a hotel that doesn’t only look awesome but has this amazing creative atmosphere as well!

Our room will be the ‘cosy room’ which is basically a big bed, but what else do you need anyway? I’ve never spent any time behind one of those desks that you normally find in hotel rooms and I’ve never hung my clothes in a closet there either.

Cosy right? I’ve probably just spend way to much time jabbering on about a hotel, but I can’t help it. I’m kind of excited! By the way, if any of you have really good Berlin-tips for me, I’m all ears!
